Currently, an incorrect or limited understanding of yoga as a complex of physical and respiratory techniques dominates. In fact, the concept of yoga originates from the root of “Yudzh” in Sanskrit and means “connection”. Many languages contain words similar in meaning and sound: the English “yoke”, as well as the German “Joch”, and the Russian “igo” both meaning “yoke”. Understood correctly, yoga is the process of uniting the knower’s mind with the object of his interest, through attention. In fact, yoga and meditation are the same, so everything written in our texts about meditation can also be applied to yoga.
